HOW THE LASER PROCEDURE WORKS
Q-switched tattoo removal lasers produce short pulses of intense light that pass through the upper layers of skin and break down by the tattoo ink pigment. The light selectively targets the pigment and breaks it up into small particles which are gradually removed by the body’s immune system over the course of several weeks.

THE MOST EFFECTIVE FULL-COLOR SPECTRUM TATTOO REMOVAL
Renewal Laser Clinic uses cutting edge technology in our procedures, allowing us to complete removals in fewer sessions at a lower overall expense to our clients.
Our lasers have the largest spot size and shortest pulse rate available; a tattoo the size of a quarter can be covered in under four seconds. All Q-switched lasers have appropriate pulse durations for tattoo removal, but lasers with a shorter pulse are a safer and more efficient removal method.
Different lasers are better for different tattoo colors; multi-color tattoo removal almost always requires the use of two or more laser wavelengths.
Renewal Laser Clinic uses the following lasers in our procedures:
Please note these are general observations.
• Q-switched KTP: 532 nm. This laser creates a green light which is highly absorbed by red and yellow pigments.
• Q-switched Ruby: 694 nm. This laser creates a red light which is highly absorbed by green and blue tattoo pigments.
• Q-switched Nd:YAG: 1064 nm. This laser creates a near-infrared light (invisible to humans) which is absorbed by all dark tattoo pigments.
Q-switched laser technology is considered the only effective method for tattoo removal by the medical community. By specifically targeting tattoo ink, Q-switched lasers inflict very little damage to surrounding tissue, so healing time is usually brief and uncomplicated.

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE REGARDING TATTOO REMOVAL
Q: Is the procedure painful?
A: Yes. There is almost always some discomfort; the sensation is often described as a “hot rubber-band snap.” Your own experience will depend on many factors including the location of the tattoo and the density of the ink.
Q: How many sessions will it take to remove my tattoo?
A: The number of sessions has many factors including colors, size, inks used and many others that will be evaluated in your free consultation. For example, newer black tattoos with thick lines usually require 6 to 12 sessions to remove, while older homemade tattoos may be eliminated in 1 to 3 sessions.
Q: Are certain colors difficult to remove?
A: The various wavelengths of Q-switched lasers target specific pigment types. Our lasers are designed to remove a full spectrum of colors. Reds and yellows lift fairly easily, and blues and greens tend to be the most stubborn.
Q: Does every tattoo remove completely, without any trace?
A: Around 85%-90% of all tattoos can be completely removed. The depth, existing scar tissue, and health of the client are the main factors that determine whether the tattoo will be completely eliminated.
Q: Can I get tattooed again on the lasered area?
A: Yes. About 1/3 of our clients are just looking to get better tattoos and not gettting another coverup.
Q: What can I expect after my first session?
A: The size and placement of the tattoo being treated will determine the type of aftercare required. Some treatments can be performed on a lunch break, while others require hours of rest afterwards. We will be discussing this with you during your consultation to determine the best time for your first appointment.
Q: How long do I need to wait between sessions?
A: For most tattoos, we recommend waiting between six to eight weeks between sessions. For the final one or two sessions, a ten to twelve week waiting period is typical.
Q: I want to get another tattoo to cover this one; can lasering help?
A: Lightening an existing tattoo gives you and your tattoo artist many more options when designing a cover up. Remember to wait a minimum of eight to ten weeks after the last laser session before having the area re-tattooed.
Q: I am dark-skinned. Can I be lasered?
A: Yes, but there is a greater risk of hypopigmentation— a drastic lightening of the skin. While most cases of hypopigmentation reverse over time, there is always a possibility of a permanent loss of color.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Sessions start at $60 for tattoos up to one inch in diameter, are charged per square inch and by color, and are always priced per session. We will always provide reliable estimates of the length and number of sessions, as well as upfront pricing.
Q: Why do other places that provide laser tattoo removal services expect me to sign contracts or pre-pay for sessions?
A: Renewal Laser Clinic believes you should pay a fair rate for the services you receive at the time you receive them. Our “Bottom Line Pricing” will let you know the maximum cost at the outset.
